 HELLO, 

Grade/Topic/Objective 

The  PowerPoint presentation I have prepared aims to teach grade two student about 2-D shape. It will enrich student with different 2-d shape, how it looks and their properties. Student will be able to identify 2-shape around them after going through slides. It is easy to grabs information as the presentation initially facilitate different type of 2-d shape with picture followed by detail description of the properties of each 2- D Shape, that is circle, triangle, rectangle and square. Moreover it also makes student do activity on identifying 2-d shape among many other shape and identifying 2-d shape around them which ensure retaining information for long time and effective teaching.

Why I used PowerPoint and How I created material?

I have used Microsoft PowerPoint to come up with my work to so as ensure better learning because it helps me to make my work colourful and animated so as to fascinate by children which in turn helps better learning and excel in academic performance. moreover it will also gives an individual student an opportunities to actively engage in the learning process. It also enable us to record narration, so I have also used voice narration to explain the context, in order to make children more clear.  In nutshell, I have used shapes to illustrate 2-d shape and filled colour and used word to provide description about shape.

In order that the children grab the concept delivered in simple and effective way, first, the slides takes to identify what shape is and inquire if children knows the name of shape. Then introduce the definition of 2-shape and properties of each 2-shape. In order to check if the concept is understood clearly children are assigned to do activity to identify shapes and draw picture   using the shape.

When/Where to use?

The presentation I have prepared can used to introduce the lesson. Because the   first slide takes to Showing of the picture of 2-d shapes and check if they know the names of shape in order to activate the background knowledge and introduce the topic for the day. Moreover, it can use in lesson development because i have  define what 2-d shape is and takes children through properties of shape along with picture and voice narration to make it clear.

Activity

Ø After going through the slide, complete the activity of identifying the 2-d shapes and drawing any structure using 2-d shapes which is also attached in slides.

Introduction 

I am Tshering Zangmo. I was grown up in Pemagatshel. I have completed my lower education in Shumar lower secondary school and higher education from Nangkor higher secondary school.  I have joined Paro college of education in the year 2017 after completion of higher education. Currently I am fourth year student here after encountering three and half years of studies about teaching and learning. Well, I think I was equipped with the strategies to teach to match twenty first century teaching pedagogy since I joined the college.

From the early years, I was dreaming to become teacher, so as to experience different way to teach and know how children learn. Back then, till sixth grade I have seen computers in only in school office, and I have experienced teacher always lecturing. I could still remember my math teacher solving himself and letting us to write same thing and rate us very good which indicate there is no learning taking place. Way back in 2011, there was introduction of IT(information technology) class by Chigphen Rigphel where we were introduced to basic about computers. Yet there wasn’t any teacher integrating technology while teaching.

My higher studies completed without any teacher integrating technology to teach, gradually after joining the college, I was introduced to different learning environment where lecturers integrate technology in some ways while teaching. I found integration of technology to lesson as means of power tool to make us more convinced and easy way to learn in many different ways. For an instance, if we feel difficult to understand from teacher lesson, we are enriched bout the context by showing video, sound and images etc.

Now, in the final semester, luckily we have got the module ICT in teaching and learning which elucidates about the integration of  technology in teaching and different levels technology integration which enriched about how to in-coperates technology in the lesson. Most of all I was convinced that just using technology to make our work easy or substitute  is not merely a ICT integration, rather we should use the technology in a way that, if we remove it, the quality of lesson is diminished. So I found integration technology as a part of lesson as crucial to learning.

Therefore, in this page, I am going to share my journey of ICT exploration in teaching and learning and how learning becomes more comprehensible with integrating ICT. Moreover in this page I will design and share a lesson of primary level subject integrating ICT to make all the viewer convinced about the content and make the lesson more comprehensible. The main motive of my page is to make young children of primary class to grabs the some of the ides in their subject if found useful from my work.
