 Topic: Identifying End Rhymes in a poetry

Class : I

Subject: English

In order to teach class one student what is rhyme and identifying end rhymes from the poem, I have developed video tutorial to make children comprehend the lesson well. This video tutorial will enrich children with the concept of what actually rhymes is and know how to identify rhymes from the poem

How did I create materials?

In order to come up with this video tutorial, first I have gathered the definition of rhyme from many sources and chose the simplest one, Followed by gathering of pictures of rhyming word, so that it arouses curiosity of learner. Then I have gathered all the information and pictures in the PowerPoint slides. Then I   have animated all the words and picture one by one. Finally I have recorded PowerPoint screen using Camtasia Studio followed by editing on it. Finally I have produced a video tutorial.

When should I use?

The material I have prepared can be use in lesson development process to enlighten the concept about what rhyme and end rhyme is as I explained the concept of rhymes and end rhymes with examples along with the picture. This video tutorial also facilitate on the process as to how to identify end rhymes with examples. So learner will be able to grabs the idea very easily and can be use while learning.

 

Why I used PowerPoint and  Camtasia studio ?

I have used PowerPoint as it provides a platform where we can color and animate the text and pictures to attract more by viewers. Moreover arranging the ideas and information in different slides makes the information expressed more organized.   I have also used camtasia  studio  because it allows us to edit and produce video. Moreover it also made pre-made  transition that takes our lesson to different stages and it also provide a platform to zoom out the important ideas, add callouts and many other features which helps to make video more appropriate one.



Activity :

Topic : 3-d shape

Class :III

Subject : Mathematics

 I have designed the concept mapping on 3-d shape using the coggle in order to make it easier to understand by student. A concept mapping is visual representation of information. It is a constructive tool which helps students to comprehend new concepts of the given topic. Concept mapping helps students to see the big picture and visualize relationships. The concept i have prepared will aid in learning as I have integrated pictures of 3-d shape.

1.     How did I create material?

Open coggle.it using URL http://www.coggle.it/




 

 

2.Sign in with Google account to create Concept map.




3.Click on the create button.




 

4. Click on the (+) buttons on the central items to add branches and add as many as branches you want.



 


5.     5.Then enter a text label for each branch

6. To move items click and drag the text of any branch to move it.

7.To add image, click on the text editing area and select image icon and insert image.




8.To add videos, copy the URL from the browser and paste in a link to a website.


  9.     Click on the download image to save the work.

When to use?

The material I prepared can be used in introduction and lesson development while teaching grade III student about 3-D shape. The concept map shows the general view of what is 3-d shape and how it looks. So this concept map will help children to gain the entire idea on what are 3-d shapes and how it looks. It also display the clear pictures of 3-d shape and describe all the properties of the shape. Thus after delivering this concept map children know all the attribute of 3-d shapes.

 Why I used Coogle.it  to do concept  mapping .

I have used coogle.it  over other programme mainly to vary my blog post because I heard about this from other class, so I took extra time to learn about it to design concept map through using coogle.it . The main motive behind using coogle.it  is because helps in storing large amount of information; It helps students to develop meta-cognitive skills. Moreover through link, concept map provide clear information on a given topic. It helps us to communicate our ideas. Moreover this coogle.it  provide us a platform to insert pictures and video in the concept map which will aids in learning.

 Topic: Season

class: Three

subject: English

The simulation I have prepared will inform and teach children about the entire concept of season and it aims to teach grade three students about different types of season and term used in teaching season. It will enrich student with knowledge about the weather that occurs every day. I have made the content easier to understand by integrating the simulation .

 In order to make this simulation, first I have gather a pictures that will give you an idea about four different season to make the learning more comprehensible and then prepared a PowerPoint presentation incorporating pictures of all the season, then I coloured it and finally animated the entire object to appear it systematically. After getting all of this done, then I have converted PowerPoint Presentation to video form by saving as window media player  to fascinate by children which in turn helps better learning and excel in academic performance..

The material I have prepared can be used in lesson development to activate knowledge and idea about season to enrich them with entire ideas about what is season and four different seasons. The material was made more authentic using the description and pictures that depicts four different seasons. The features of four different seasons are explained clearly incorporating the features of all season. For the betterment of the student, each four different season are explained one by one because children will not face difficulties in understanding rather they will easily grabs the idea.

Activity

After going through simulation, children are suppose to complete the following

1) List four seasons and describe about their favourite season.

2) Draw the features of all season.

The video I have prepared will take through national symbol of Bhutan and it aims to teach grade Five student about different national symbol of country. It will enrich student with different national symbol which act as a unique identity for our country. I have made the content easier to understand by integrating the pictures of our national symbol. Often the integration of real picture makes sense to what children are learning.

How and why I created material?

 In order to make this video, first I have prepared a PowerPoint presentation incorporating pictures of all the national symbol of our country and save as window video player to come up with my work to so as ensure better learning because it helps to make my work colourful and animated so as to fascinate by children which in turn helps better learning and excel in academic performance. Moreover I have also added voice narration to cater the needs of different learning preferences. Thus I feel that the lesson I have prepared help and inspires student to learn effectively.

when to use?

The material I have prepared can be used in lesson development to provide the core information the topic “national symbol of Bhutan. It explains and takes through the definition of what national symbol is and what are different national symbol of our country. Moreover the significance of national symbol are also explained. Therefore I hope children will get better sense of what they are actually learning and retain information and ideas for longer period of time.

Hello everyone!!!

Topic/grade/subject

Today, I have come up with another topic to teach class three student about Some of the Bird of Bhutan   from English subject. It will enrich student with knowledge about different types of bird, how they look and able to fly and how they are different from human. Student will be able to know names of bird around them, differentiate bird from human. Interestingly, student will be able to know why birds are able to fly. It is easy to grabs information as the presentation comprises of picture along with explanations and this makes learning easier or small children. Moreover it also makes student  to complete question at the end to check their understanding which ensure retaining information for long time.

Why I used Microsoft word and how I created it?

I have used Microsoft office word to design the material to teach because this programme offer a platform to have pictures and a description in more clear way. In fact this topic “some of bird of Bhutan” is an essay but in order to make learning effective. In order to come come up with this material, first I have read an essay, then noted the important points, then search for appropriate picture and finally I compile it. I have prepared a hand outs and convert it to PDF file to teach after obtaining important points and I intended this might be more useful and purposeful.  I have used pictures of bird and use word to provide description about bird to make lesson more comprehensible.

In order that the children grab the concept delivered in simple and effective way, first, I have divided the essay into three main sub topics, that are how they are different from human, How they are able to fly and domestic bird of Bhutan. In order to check if the concept is understood clearly by children I have provided question to be complete.

When To Use?

This material can be use in lesson development  to provide whole content of the essay because it will take  in  detail through three sub topic that are How bird are different from human, Why are they able to fly, Domestic bird of Bhutan. The content is easier to understand as the handout contains explanation along with the pictures.

Activity

Grade/Topic/Objective 

The  PowerPoint presentation I have prepared aims to teach grade two student about 2-D shape. It will enrich student with different 2-d shape, how it looks and their properties. Student will be able to identify 2-shape around them after going through slides. It is easy to grabs information as the presentation initially facilitate different type of 2-d shape with picture followed by detail description of the properties of each 2- D Shape, that is circle, triangle, rectangle and square. Moreover it also makes student do activity on identifying 2-d shape among many other shape and identifying 2-d shape around them which ensure retaining information for long time and effective teaching.

Why I used PowerPoint and How I created material?

I have used Microsoft PowerPoint to come up with my work to so as ensure better learning because it helps me to make my work colourful and animated so as to fascinate by children which in turn helps better learning and excel in academic performance. moreover it will also gives an individual student an opportunities to actively engage in the learning process. It also enable us to record narration, so I have also used voice narration to explain the context, in order to make children more clear.  In nutshell, I have used shapes to illustrate 2-d shape and filled colour and used word to provide description about shape.

In order that the children grab the concept delivered in simple and effective way, first, the slides takes to identify what shape is and inquire if children knows the name of shape. Then introduce the definition of 2-shape and properties of each 2-shape. In order to check if the concept is understood clearly children are assigned to do activity to identify shapes and draw picture   using the shape.

When/Where to use?

The presentation I have prepared can used to introduce the lesson. Because the   first slide takes to Showing of the picture of 2-d shapes and check if they know the names of shape in order to activate the background knowledge and introduce the topic for the day. Moreover, it can use in lesson development because i have  define what 2-d shape is and takes children through properties of shape along with picture and voice narration to make it clear.

Activity

Ø After going through the slide, complete the activity of identifying the 2-d shapes and drawing any structure using 2-d shapes which is also attached in slides.

Introduction 

I am Tshering Zangmo. I was grown up in Pemagatshel. I have completed my lower education in Shumar lower secondary school and higher education from Nangkor higher secondary school.  I have joined Paro college of education in the year 2017 after completion of higher education. Currently I am fourth year student here after encountering three and half years of studies about teaching and learning. Well, I think I was equipped with the strategies to teach to match twenty first century teaching pedagogy since I joined the college.

From the early years, I was dreaming to become teacher, so as to experience different way to teach and know how children learn. Back then, till sixth grade I have seen computers in only in school office, and I have experienced teacher always lecturing. I could still remember my math teacher solving himself and letting us to write same thing and rate us very good which indicate there is no learning taking place. Way back in 2011, there was introduction of IT(information technology) class by Chigphen Rigphel where we were introduced to basic about computers. Yet there wasn’t any teacher integrating technology while teaching.

My higher studies completed without any teacher integrating technology to teach, gradually after joining the college, I was introduced to different learning environment where lecturers integrate technology in some ways while teaching. I found integration of technology to lesson as means of power tool to make us more convinced and easy way to learn in many different ways. For an instance, if we feel difficult to understand from teacher lesson, we are enriched bout the context by showing video, sound and images etc.

Now, in the final semester, luckily we have got the module ICT in teaching and learning which elucidates about the integration of  technology in teaching and different levels technology integration which enriched about how to in-coperates technology in the lesson. Most of all I was convinced that just using technology to make our work easy or substitute  is not merely a ICT integration, rather we should use the technology in a way that, if we remove it, the quality of lesson is diminished. So I found integration technology as a part of lesson as crucial to learning.

Therefore, in this page, I am going to share my journey of ICT exploration in teaching and learning and how learning becomes more comprehensible with integrating ICT. Moreover in this page I will design and share a lesson of primary level subject integrating ICT to make all the viewer convinced about the content and make the lesson more comprehensible. The main motive of my page is to make young children of primary class to grabs the some of the ides in their subject if found useful from my work.
